MCP23008 IO Expander - LCD1602

I found that LCD1602's Vih min is 2.2V.  So LVC245's Voh max of 2V is marginal.  I don't have much confidence now.  Perhaps I should stick to ULN2803 which guarantees Voh min approx Vcc.
