I wanted to know why the on bread board EEPROM does not work, so I swapped the EEPROMS to see if the EEPROM is bad. But the problem does not go away. So I checked the bread board jumper wires but found everything OK. Then I noticed that even the status register cannot be read now. So I concluded that at least one of the connections is intermittantly poor. I did not bother to trace the poor connection. So I just soldered another proto board version EEPROM.
I tested the second EEPROM on proto board and found it good.
So now I have 2 good EEPROMs in hand. Next step is to know more about the thing called "page reading and writing".
