3/4 digit LED pinout compatibliity
Before I replaced the 3 digit thing 4 digit I compared the pinouts to see how different they are. I surprisingly found that the 4 digit LED is backward comparable to 3 digit. In other words, I actually don't need to make the 4 digit socket, because both 3 digit and 4 digit are using the same 6 pins x 2 layout. The only difference is that the 4 digit LED has one more anode common pin.
So I just unplugged the 3 digit LED and plugged in the 4 digit LED, and found the LED playing OK, without any other hardware and software modification. Actually, because the LED is cheap, so I just hot swapped the two LEDs, with the risk of burning out the HK$2.5.
