GPi SPI and LED driver testing notes
Now I have connected the SPI cables, and ran the LED driver test. I have not yet connected the 4 digit LED module, because now I know that it is not necessary to have the LED to do the test. The most important signal to check is the clock signal which the CPLD would process to generate 5 digit enable signals. So what I did was to use the scope to display the first 2 digit enable signals at P1-01, and P1-02. If P1-01 and P1-02 shows two 1.17 KHz signals out of phase by 1/4 cycle, then at least the SPI, and the CPLD's digit enable signal generator circuits should be working properly.
